The art of John Tracey

 
 

John Tracey is a Boston native and graduate of the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University. He has been exhibiting his work in and around New England since 1979. Tracey has had one-person shows at various galleries (Miller/Block, Howard Yezerski) and museums (MFA Boston,The Brattleboro Museum of Art in Vermont and the Ben Shahn Gallery at William Paterson University, New Jersey). His work has been widely seen in group shows at venues such as the Cherry Stone Gallery, Wellfleet, Mass., the Nielsen Gallery, Boston, Mass., and the Duxbury Art Complex Museum.


Tracey’s artwork is in the collections of the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University and numerous corporate and private collections. Primarily a painter for the past 25 years, Tracey began making sculpture in 1998. He was a recipient of a 2003 Berkshire Taconic Foundation/Artist Resource Trust Fund Grant to execute plans for a large-scale bronze, completed in 2004.
